The Anabasis, 2026

Bronze, modeled directly in wax

The Anabasis is a meditation on the long descent and the slow rising that follows. Inspired by the foot of Donatello's Hermes, it presents a single classical foot, bound in the straps of a Roman sandal and still in motion toward the self we are all striving to become.

Each strap is a vow: to keep walking, to press against the dark, and to meet our truest self at the end of the road.

Shaped by hand in wax and surrendered to fire, the figure was cast in bronze, a metal born of heat and patience.

In its weight and stillness lie strength and resilience; in its quiet, unbroken reaching lies growth. We do not descend to be lost, but to be remade.
